The NHS UK described male masturbation as the act of stimulating an erect penis by rubbing or moving a hand up and down an erect penis to derive sexual pleasure. Globally, it has been shown that approximately 78 percentage of adults masturbate. In the UK, it is estimated that 96 percent of British men masturbate, while only 78 percent of British women masturbate. The proportion of men who masturbate in the UK is higher compared to both Germany and the US, with 93 percent of German men, and 92 percent of American men masturbating.

It was shown that men aged 20-49 years who frequently ejaculate (as much as 21 times per month) often have reduced chances of developing cancer of the prostate as compared with men who ejaculated just four-to-seven times a month.

Myth: Masturbation kills your sex drive
Fact: Masturbation helps men last longer, and it can even make sex with a partner more enjoyable.

Myth: People in relationships don't masturbate.
Fact: Both single people and people in relationships masturbate. Masturbation can enhance sex with partners, both physically and emotionally.

Myth: Men have to masturbate, but women don't.
Fact: Although men and women’s habits vary, both men and women masturbate. Some couples masturbate together as part of their sexual relationship.
SOME EFFECTS OF MASTURBATION
Although masturbation is harmless, excessive masturbation can result in the following:
Edema - If masturbation is undertaken in a short space of time, the penis can swell or become sore due to a buildup of fluid in the tissues, though these conditions may disappear in a day or two.
Masturbating excessively can result in fatigue, weakness, testicular pain, soreness, cuts or bruising on the penis.
Skin irritation, or in rare cases penis fracture, can be a result of rough masturbation.
When masturbating with a partner, masturbation can result in transmission of an STI from a partner’s genitals, semen or vaginal fluid. It can also result in pregnancy when sperm is transferred to the partner’s vagina during partner masturbation.
