Changes in Consumer Behavior Post-Pandemic

• Nielsen reports that post-corona-virus changes in consumer behavior, including permanent shifts in the supply chain and the use of e-commerce. 

Movie and Concert Attendance

• Disney predicts long-term changes in consumer behavior to include lower attendance at movie theaters and parks, increase viewership of streaming services, and fewer viewers of live TV. Part of the reason for this change in behavior post-pandemic is going to be due to the "disruption in the creation and availability of content", in addition to the cancellation of sports events and the stoppage of most film and TV production.
• Disney raises speculation that the media and entertainment business may change in "fundamental ways", and the company expects to see an increase in its Disney+ streaming subscribers. Universal Pictures announced that the animated Trolls World Tour have announced a change to release through streaming services instead of the planned big screen release.
• It is speculated that the movie theater giants such as AMC and Regal may be able to survive, however, small and independent movie theaters are predicted to have to close their doors due to already narrow margins that are heavily based on concession fees.

Use of E-Commerce

• While people will return to daily routines after the pandemic, a renewed health consciousness will result in permanent shifts in the supply chain and consumer's use of e-commerce.

Industries Expected to Thrive

Grocery Stores

• Grocery stores are ramping up their investments in "micro-fulfillment technology, robotic warehouses, and drone deliveries" to keep up with demand in home deliveries, practices that will continue to cause grocery stores to continue to thrive even after the pandemic.
•  Grocery store clerks, servers, janitors, and child-care workers are positioned to thrive after the pandemic and analysts predict these groups "may be able to demand higher pay and better working conditions in the post-coronavirus world". These groups have been referred to as "heros" throughout the pandemic.
