INSIGHTS
For the Saint-Gobain firm, increasing the number of their collaborative spaces enabled them to increase the productivity of their employees by 100%.
Two-thirds of the 607 companies in the US that were surveyed felt that they were more productive when their conferences were conducted offsite instead of in the office.
In a survey from Clutch, 54% of employees who have many workspace options reported that they are more productive once they take their work offsite.

Through surveys, studies and articles on workplace strategy, third spaces and workspace design, we've compiled the below statistics to show how employees benefit from third spaces, designated spaces or out-of-office spaces.

SURVEY RESULTS
In a recent survey of 607 companies in the US, two-thirds of respondents stated that they felt they were more productive when their conferences were conducted offsite instead of in the office. They cited reasons including reduced probability of interruptions.
A survey from Clutch showed that 54% of employees who have many workspace options believe that they are more productive once they take their work offsite. Around 18% prefer to work in either public spaces or in a co-working location.
Corporate Design's survey revealed that around 65% of those asked believed that they still are more productive when working at their office desks. However, only 36% mentioned that they felt inspired when working at their desks.

A Polycom survey revealed that 98% of those interviewed have mentioned that "anywhere working" has resulted in an increase in productivity.
Based on another survey from Talent Works, around 58% of the employees who need to do highly-focused work mentioned that they require quieter work areas, and 54% felt that their current office setting is full of unwanted interruptions.
Based on the Gensler Workspace report, those who are involved in innovative jobs spent only 74% of the usual one-week work in the office. Those who are not involved in innovative work have spent around 86% of the normal working hours in the office. Furthermore, employees who are involved in innovative work were twice as likely to work in other areas such as in cafeterias, coffee shops, and in outdoor spots. These employees were also offered twice as many work location choices.
In the Saint-Gobain firm, increasing the number of its collaborative spaces helped them increase the productivity of their employees by 100%.
A report from Serraview showed that firms that are known to be innovation champions are 5 times more inclined to build workspaces that cater to the various work style preferences of their employees. Furthermore, around 85% require workspaces that are specifically designed for innovation and collaboration activities.

CO-WORKING SPACES AS THIRD SPACES
Clutch's survey showed that 25% of survey respondents cited "spontaneous collaboration" as a key benefit of working in a co-working space.
A 2018 HOK Forward Workplace report showed 71% of those who work in co-working spaces stated that they have sensed an increased level of productivity. Around 68% stated that they were able to concentrate more in co-working spaces. In terms of work quality, 62% felt that they could deliver better work in this type of working space.
Office Vibe's survey published several statistics that revolve around the use of co-working space. Based on the survey findings, 64% of those staying in a co-working space were found to complete their tasks faster. Around 68% mentioned that they were able to concentrate more in co-working areas. In terms of connecting with their other people in this space, 91% reported that they have experienced enhanced interaction with others.

WORK PLACE WELL-BEING
In addition to statistics about third spaces, there was abundant information on increases in productivity based on workspaces designed with employee health and well-being in mind:

In the HOK Forward Workplace research and trends, it was mentioned that designing the workplace in such a way that all areas have access to daylight and window views can increase focused work productivity by 15%. The report also presented the case of Aetna, a healthcare company that has implemented a mindfulness initiative. The initiative includes the redesign of the company's workplace in order for the area to become more conducive to the mental well-being of the employees. Since the deployment of this initiative, the company has gained around $3,000 worth of productivity gains per employee.
Having a well-ventilated office also helped the Heerema Marine Contractors company to gain a net present value (NPV) of around $47 million over a 20-year period in productivity gains and other employee metrics.
