Non-adherence often arises from reasons including patients not filling prescriptions due to high costs and some taking medication inconsistently.

Searched through industry, market, and business research reports hoping to find lists mentioning AI-powered products supporting medication adherence. Found various mentions but with fewer data on examples of companies developing or deploying AI to monitor, impact, and improve medication adherence.

Then switched to explore business news sites such as Forbes and Business Insider and best practices intelligence vendor — Advisory, which offered lists of solutions supporting medical care compliance. Next, Visited individual sites for each solution, found on the lists on Forbes, Advisory, and Business Insider to understand better how they work, and how they deploy AI to achieve their purpose. Below we have presented a list of seven solutions powered through artificial intelligence to support medical care compliance.

1. AMIKO'S RESPIRO®
Amiko's Respiro® Sense technology is a smart AI-powered inhaler that tracks both the delivery technique and patient adherence and reports back the findings to the physician. The solution is available as either a standalone smart inhaler or integrated into the customers' current inhalers. Respiro® sensors feature built-in AI capabilities that offer personalized benefits such as dose reminders and ways to improve the inhalation technique.

2. ADHERIUM'S HAILIE™
Adherium's Hailie™ solution is approved by the FDA 510(k) and is a CE Marked device and software. Hailie provides medication reminders and monitors inhaler usage. The company claims that the Hailie™ solution promotes medication adherence up to 180% in children and 59% in adults.

3. PROPELLER HEALTH'S SMART INHALER PLATFORM
Propeller Health's smart inhaler solution features eight FDA 510(k) approvals. The solution also offers medical reminders and monitors inhaler usage. The company has concluded studies that indicate that there is over 58% improvement in medication adherence. Propeller's smart inhaler has been included in 15+ clinical studies involving over 2,500 patients. The solution has also been incorporated in over 40 commercial health programs in the U.S.

4. PROTEUS DISCOVER SYSTEM
 Proteus Discover system by Proteus Digital Health features ingestible sensors that collect and record data about medication use and compliance. The sensors are placed inside pills and once swallowed they can send signals to a patch worn on the body. This process of consuming sensors can also track sleep patterns, heart rate, steps, and other health metrics. The patch, worn on the body, then sends these signals to mobile apps and a web browser portal where it is accessible to caregivers who can help track progress, monitor management, and intervene when needed. The company has tested the solution in partnerships with Texas-based Children's Health, and California-based Barton Health.

5. AICURE
AiCure deploys (AI) and a mobile app to monitor medication adherence. The application first identifies the patient through computer vision technology, and once verified, it records the patient ingesting the drug. The information is then relayed to a web-based portal where caregivers can review and monitor patients compliance patterns. AiCure has been used in multiple clinical trials and received many innovation grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) since its founding in 2010.

6. CATALIA HEALTH — MABU
Catalia's Health Mabu is AI-powered robot that engages with patients at home helping them adhere to their care plans. The robot interacts with patients via natural language processing and behavioral psychology to adapt to the patients' care plans. Mabu collects patient data which is stored in cloud-based platforms. Overall, the robot can send notifications via mobile devices, provide daily reminders, and examine patients' daily emotions. Presently, Catalia Health is testing Mabu with pharma companies, home health organizations, and health systems.

7. BIOFLUX
Bioflux is a mobile cardiac telemetry device that allows physicians to obtain real-time monitoring and ECG information on patients. The solution seeks to monitor patients' medical care plans and their usage to promote high medication adherence levels. Overall, Bioflux aims at improving patient outcomes, their compliance, and reduce healthcare costs.
